Karwar: Family members of Sunil Sadashiva Talekar, aged 27, who was found dead, refused to take his body home from Karwar Institute of Medical Science, till the government announces an investigation into his mysterious death. He was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mudageri region in the taluk on Saturday night.
His body was then shifted to KIMS, on Sunday, but family members refused to take his body as they suspect foul play.
According to Chandrahas K, a relative of the deceased, Sunil was working in Muscat for many years, and recently he came in contact with a girl from the same village. Their friendship later turned into love. Last month Sunil returned from Muscat and was frequently visiting the girl’s house. On Saturday too he visited her house. But in the evening, family members received a call from an unidentified person who informed them that Sunil had died after falling from a coconut tree.
Chandrahas said Sunil did not know how to climb the coconut tree and would not have ventured to do so.
Moreover, under the coconut tree from where he is stated to have fallen to his death, there are other small plants too, none of which suffered any damage. The family members charged that his body was found 10 ft away from the tree.
They also charged that since the incident came to light, the girl, her mother, her sister and brother-in-law were untraceable.
Chitakula Police station officials said they have received a complaint from the relatives of Sunil suspecting unnatural death.
The body has been sent for postmortem. After getting a report from the doctors, further action will be taken, they said.
