Karwar: A special court for public representatives has convicted Karwar MLA Satish Sail in the infamous 2010 Belekeri iron ore missing case. The court has ordered his immediate custody, with sentencing set for tomorrow.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed charges against Sail and others in six cases related to the illegal export of iron ore through Belekeri port. The court's final ruling was delivered on Thursday, with Satish Sail found guilty in the first case.

The charges relate to Sail's company, Mallikarjuna Shipping Pvt. Ltd., which allegedly exported 7.23 lakh metric tons of iron ore illegally from Belekeri port. CBI investigations revealed that over 50 lakh metric tons of iron ore were exported illegally between 2009 and May 2010, with only 38.22 lakh metric tons having the required permits.

Sail was previously arrested in 2012 in connection with this case when CBI raided his home and seized key documents.
