Karwar: PUC exams to be conducted transparently; DC Lakshmi Priya instructs officials

Karwar: The Second PUC annual examinations in the Uttara Kannada district will be held from March 1 to 20 across 34 examination centers. Deputy Commissioner (DC) K. Lakshmi Priya has directed the officials assigned to the examination duty to ensure that all exams are conducted with utmost transparency and in accordance with the examination guidelines.

She was speaking while presiding over a meeting at the DC’s office on Wednesday.

A total of 13,974 students will be appearing for the exams in the district this year. To facilitate the smooth conduct of the exams, 34 examination centers have been set up. Additionally, 14 route officers, including Tahsildars, Block Education Officers (BEOs), and senior principals, have been appointed to ensure that question papers reach all exam centers within the stipulated time.

As per the examination board’s directive, CCTV cameras will be installed at all 34 exam centers. The opening of question paper bundles and the bundling of answer sheets must be recorded on CCTV. The police department has been instructed to provide security for exam centers, the transportation of question and answer papers, and round-the-clock security at the Karwar and Sirsi treasuries.

A mobile vigilance team and a local vigilance team have been appointed for each exam center. The number of students and their registration numbers should be displayed in every classroom. Proper ventilation, lighting, and cleanliness must be ensured. Separate restroom facilities should be provided for male and female students. The appointment of external water suppliers for drinking water has been prohibited, and drinking water facilities should be arranged outside each classroom.

All examination staff, including supervisors, must wear ID cards. Students are required to wear their college uniforms. A prohibition order will be enforced within a 200-meter radius of the examination centers on exam days. Photocopy shops near the centers will be required to remain closed during examination hours.

HESCOM has been instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply on examination days, and KSRTC has been directed to provide efficient transportation arrangements for students.

District and taluk-level vigilance teams have been appointed to oversee the smooth conduct of exams. The chief invigilators of examination centers must ensure that no malpractices occur, no unauthorized candidates appear for the exams, and that all examinations are conducted peacefully following departmental guidelines.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla, Deputy Director of the Pre-University Education Department Rajappa, and other officials assigned to exam duties.
