Karwar: Candidates told to co-operate for free, fair Council polls

Karwar:  Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan who is also the district election officer instructed the candidates of all political parties including independent candidates to co-operate with the officials concerned for conducting free and fair Council polls and to follow the Model Code of Conduct without fail.

He was speaking at a meeting held with Council polls candidates and agents at the deputy commissioner’s office in Karwar on Sunday. 

He said, open campaigning would end 48 hours before the polling scheduled to be held on December 10. Candidates who are in the fray for Council polls, should get permission for publishing or telecasting advertisements after the open campaign would end. The candidates should submit details on poll expenditure to the election officer, he instructed. 

He said, mobile phones have been banned at the vote-counting centre. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner H K Krishnamurthy, Nodal Officer R V Katti, and others were present.
