Karwar: MP Anantkumar Hegde instructed the officials concerned to complete the construction works of rural roads in Uttara Kannada district by the end of March next year.

He was chairing the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at ZP hall in Karwar on Monday. 

He told the officials that the road works that are in progress and works that would be taken up in the rural areas in the district should be completed without delay.

Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana officer informed the meeting that it has been targeted to construct 300 km road under the scheme in the district. Till date, 49 km road work has been completed, the officer added.

Expressing unhappiness over the poor progress of the works, Anantkumar Hegde said, roads in many rural areas have been damaged. New roads should be constructed quickly, he told the officials.
