Karwar: A police constable attached to the District Armed Reserve (DAR) at Karwar committed suicide inside the office on Wednesday.

Guruprasad Naik, 35, who was working as a trainer in DAR came to office early on Wednesday and committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling. The incident came to light when clerical staff arrived at 10am. It is said that Naik returned the money he had borrowed from his colleagues on Wednesday morning before taking the extreme step. According to his colleagues, he may have planned ahead on ending his life and that could be the reason why he cleared the debts. Guruprasad was a good sportsman and upright in his duty, they added.

The exact reason behind his suicide is not known. He is survived by his wife and two children. A case has been registered.
