Karwar: A railway police constable rescued a passenger when he accidentally fell down while boarding a moving train at the Konkan railway station in Karwar.
The efforts of the police constable received appreciation. The incident took place on January 5th evening.
Panchaganga Express Bengaluru train (number 16596) was departing from platform number-1 at the railway station here. A 59-year-old man tried to board the moving train. However, he fell down and could have come under the wheels of the moving train.
Police constable Narendra Naik who was on duty at the same place, noticed the man and rescued him by lifting him. The passenger escaped unhurt by a whisker.
The passenger has been identified as B M Desai who sustained minor injuries in the incident. He thanked the police for saving his l ife.
He was given first aid and sent by another train.
