Mon, 01 Nov 2021 10:22:47    DHNS

Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan instructed the lifeguards to use new techniques to save the lives of tourists on beaches.

He was speaking after inspecting the training programme organised for all lifeguards at Rabindranath Tagore beach in Karwar on Saturday.

He told the lifeguards to hone their skills and to learn new techniques to save the lives of tourists who are in trouble on the beaches.

Lifeguards appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to increase the honorarium being given to them.

Reacting to this, the Deputy Commissioner said, tourism is slowly picking up in the district. As soon as income would increase, it would be contemplated to hike their honorarium. Their woes would be resolved. Advanced life-saving equipment would be given to them and measures would be initiated to encourage the tourism activities in the district, he assured.

Tourism Department’s In-charge Deputy Director Pratik was present.
