Haliyal: Muhammad Yusuf Hubballiwale of Haliyal, in a petition to the District Health Officer (DHO) Karwar, has alleged that his daughter Bibi Ayesha Gouse Modin Attar (24) died to due to medical negligence at the government hospital in Haliyal.

Ayesha bled to death at the KIMS Hubballi on Saturday and that it was a case of post-maternity haemorrhage caused solely by the negligence of the concerned doctors at the government hospital, Haliyal, where she was admitted for her second delivery on January 8, 2018, he has alleged. The father has also alleged that instead of the qualified doctors, the procedure was conducted by mid-wives and this has led to the haemorrhage.

People in large number belonging to Muslim community including the relatives of Ayesha took a silence march to the Tahsildar's office here and submitted a memorandum addressed to the DHO appealing him to investigate the matter impartially and initiate action against the delinquent doctors of the Haliyal taluk hospital on Tuesday.

The petition also states that from Haliyal hospital, she was sent to district hospital in Dharwad when the bleeding didn’t stop. Surprisingly, the Dharwad district hospital sent her to the KIMS. As this did not yield results, the woman breathed her last there. However, the male child delivered by her is healthy and now being looked after by maternal grand parents. Tahsildar Vidyadhar Gulguli held a prolonged meeting of the Muslim leaders in his chamber and assured them that a thorough investigation will be conducted.
