Karwar: Additional Deputy Commissioner H Prasanna stated that, the Kite Festival will be organized in Karwar and Gokarna in the month of December.

He informed this, while speaking to district level officers, festival organizers and hotel owners, at a Preliminary Meeting held at Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Thursday.

The kite festival is becoming popular at the international level. In this context, Deputy Commissioner has been thinking to organize the fest in North Kannada district.

There are many tourists spots and attractive places in the coastal region. Hence, the kite fest will also promote the district tourism. In this regard, the suggestions and opinions are being collected as apart of festival preparations, he informed.

The international level professional kite fliers will be invited to the festival. The students of schools and colleges, and citizen of the district will be a part of it, he added.

For the first time, the kite festival is going to be organized in the district. Hence, with the support of hotel owners entrepreneurs, tourism supporters and adventure sports associations, the efforts will be made to highlight the festival in the international level, he pointed.

Tourism Department In-charge Assistance Director S Yogeshwar, Kannada & Culture Department In-charge Assistant Director Ramakrishna Naik, Information and Public Relations Department Assistant Director Himanthraju G, Urban Development Cell Assistant Executive Engineer R P Naik were present.
