Kumta: Ratnakar Naik, Zilla Panchayat Member & President of welcome committee of 6th Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, to be held on February 24 and 25, 2018, said people of the taluk, who had received last year’s sammelana with enthusiasm, showed the extent of their love and respect for the Kannada language.
Speaking to reporters, in Kumta, on Tuesday, he said, the students of Kumta Municipal Vyayama Shale will take out a bike rally from the town to Gudeangadi village, where the literary festival would be held, in order to create awareness about the event.
Book shop
“The book shop to be opened in the festival will be named after famous physician late Dr M D Naik. Every care has been taken to organise the sammelana in an organised and disciplined manner so that it would be an interesting experience for the people and those attending it,’ he said.
Jagannath Naik, Executive President, stated the exhibitions of rare folk arts, dramas, Yakshagana by Kanchika Chinnaru, would be the main attraction of the festival.
Popular film songs
The participants would allowed to sing popular Kannada film songs highlighting the greatness of Kannada language and culture.
Several sessions have been planned at the festival, including one to be addressed by Festival President Shridhar Gouda.
