Kumta: The delegates of Kumta JamatUl Muslimeen took Tahsildar to task alleging that inviting only Muslim community leaders for preparatory meet ahead of Tipu Jayanthi celebration will give the wrong message to the society and blamed that by doing these, the officials are creating an atmosphere of discrimination between the communities.
"The people of all communities in Kumta live with peace and harmony with each other. The freedom fighters are the property of the entire nation and equating them to a particular community is objectionable. Do not invite us to such programs if the only intention of celebrating it is for the namesake and fulfilling the formalities. The Shariah law prohibits the celebration of the birthday, condolence meet for more than three days. We shall support this celebration only if the people of all communities are invited. Else, don't invite us to such celebration which could harm the communal harmony of our town", alleged the Muslim leaders in the meet.
Responding to the allegations, the officials apologized for it and said that the Tipu Jayanthi will be celebrated by inviting all community people. Also assured that the celebration will be organized as per the demands presented.
