Kumta: The Muslim community in Kumta are in shock and mourning following the sudden passing of their community leader and President of Jamaatul Muslimeen, Muhammad Shafi Shaikh, at the age of 68. Mr. Shafi breathed his last at a private hospital in Mangalore, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service and leadership.
Having served as the president of Jamaatul Muslimeen for over 15 years, Shaikh was deeply committed to serving the organization and the community. His decisions were strong, respected, and obeyed by the community members, reflecting his firm leadership style and dedication. He actively engaged himself in various community initiatives and was a prominent member of the North Kanara Muslim United Forum. Additionally, he served as a trustee of the Ideal Education Trust in Kumta, contributing significantly to educational endeavors in the region.
Shaikh's influence extended beyond the Muslim community; he was widely recognized and respected throughout the district. Known for his inclusive approach, Shaikh was popular among all sections of society and encouraged youths to participate in initiatives for the welfare of society.
His sudden demise has left a void in the hearts of many, and his loss is deeply felt by the locals and the community at large. Shaikh is survived by his wife, two daughters, and two sons, and his memory will continue to inspire generations to come.
Funeral prayers will be offered after Zohar prayers at the Kumta Muslim graveyard.
