Kumta: BJP leader Suraj Naik Soni of Kumta has been arrested in Delhi on Friday for his alleged involvement in assaulting two youths for allegedly transporting cattle.

It might be remembered that a group of self-declared Gau Raksha members on 7th March had beaten two youths black and blue when they were allegedly involved in transporting cattle from Ankola to Bhatkal. Following the incident, a case against 127 right-wing activists including Suraj Naik Soni was booked in Honnavar police station under section 307.

Police have been successful in arresting few accused in this regard. However, Suraj was nabbed from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi.

It shall be noted that Suraj had lost in the last assembly elections as a BJP candidate from Kumta and is also an expected BJP aspirant from Kumta-Honnavar constituency in the upcoming assembly elections.
