Kundapur: Tragedy befell upon a teenage boy as he lost his life after he got hit by a speeding car in an accident which occurred between a bus and a car at Kundapur-Basrur road on 15th January, Monday.
The deceased youth has been identified as Nitin Poojary (20yrs) s/o Sanjeev Poojary, a resident of Koni near here. He was a third year BCA degree course student of Bhandarkars College.
According to sources, a bus-car collision had occurred near Nithin’s home at 10:30 pm on Monday and he had rushed to the spot to see what had happened. It is then, when a Maruti Omni vehicle which came from the town at high speed, hit Nitin Poojary. As he had sustained series injuries, he was immediately admitted to a private hospital.
However, in spite of best efforts from the doctor, his body did not respond to the treatment and he breathed his last early morning on 16th January, Tuesday. Bhandarkars college declared a day-long holiday on Tuesday in honour of the departed soul.
The Omni car driver had fled from the spot, while the vehicle has been confiscated by the police.
