Kundapur: A man who was alleged for rape and murder of a pregnant woman three years ago was convicted here at Kundapur district and sessions court and the sentence will be pronounced on 20th February, Tuesday.
The accused Prashanth Mogaveera was arrested on 11th April 2015.
According to the sources, Prashanth, on 11th April, had arrived at a house in Moodugopadi asking for drinking water. When the resident of the house who was pregnant during that period opened the door, he allegedly raped her.
The pregnant woman Indira was then smashed to death by him with a boulder. He then fled from the spot after robbing her necklace. However, he was nabbed by the Kundapur police, who saw him running with blood soaked clothes.
The court had rejected his bail and after three years, the court has finally declared him guilty on 14th February, Wednesday after all the allegations against him were proved.
Special government prosecutor Ravikiran Murdeshwar argued in the case.
