Kundapur: One person was killed, while another sustained grievous injuries in a hit-and-run accident that happened in the early morning hours on Marvante NH-66 in the taluk on Saturday.

Sources informed that two persons were seen falling aside the road with severe injuries over their body. The people who go for a regular walk in the morning watched them struggling for life and made arrangements to shift the duo immediately to a nearby private hospital. Unfortunately, one among the injured was declared brought dead, who has been identified as Prabhakar, a resident of Navunda. Another victim, Suresh, is reported to be getting treated in the hospital.

It is learnt that both the victims were employed at a restaurant in Kundapur and had been to Marvante by bus in the late night at 2 am. It is said that an unknown vehicle hit them when they were walking towards their home after getting out of the bus. Approximately for 4 hours after the incident, the victims faced a challenge between life and the death. 

A case of hit-and-run stands registered in the police station.
