Haliyal: Under the aegis of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, landless staged protest on Tuesday, urging the government to provide them sites.

Their demands include, all poor people irrespective of caste and religion be provided minimum five acres of land, accommodation facilities to shelter-less families under housing schemes.

There is a need for houses for poor people of fish market and Deshpande Nagar’s Chavan plot area under the limits of town. They should be provided Ashraya houses.

They urged the government to help the poor providing all government facilities and distribution BPL (Below Poverty Line) cards, Ambedkar Bhavans should be constructed in all villages in the town.
