Karwar: Excise authorities have confiscated 11,290 liters of illicit liquor valued at Rs 19.14 lakh during raids across Uttara Kannada district in a single day, leading to the filing of a case.

In light of the Lok Sabha elections, surveillance has been heightened at numerous locations, including interstate checkpoints, with raids also prompted by citizen tips.

One motorcycle and one car utilized for transporting illicit liquor were apprehended. Illicit alcohol was discovered in several locations, including Majali and Anamode, as per statements from Excise Department officials.

In separate incidents, Excise officials seized 5,575 liters of illicit liquor valued at Rs 16.85 lakh during operations in various parts of the district.

Since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect, the Excise Department has recorded a total of 721 cases.
