Honnavar: A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding lorry on Haldipur NH-66 in the taluk on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Maasthi Durgu Mukri, a resident of Karki of Honnavar taluk.

According to the sources, the accident happened when the lorry moving towards Honnavar from Kumta rammed into the pedestrian when he was crossing the highway. The collision was such that the deceased victim came underneath the wheels receiving grievous injuries and succumbing to it on the spot.

A case has been registered in Honnavar police station.
