Udupi: One person was reportedly killed after the autorickshaw in which he was traveling in was knocked down by a speeding lorry moving towards Kundapur from Byndoor at Hemmadi junction on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Poojary, aged 37 years and a resident of Soraba.

Sources say, the victim was heading towards Kannada Kudru to his in-law’s house when the tragedy occurred. The deceased succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Rash and negligent driving by the lorry driver is said to be the cause of the accident.
