Kumta: In a tragic road accident that happened in between bike and the truck in the early hours of Sunday near Aminhalli village in Sirsi taluk, the bike rider was killed instantly, while the pillion sustained grievous injuries and has been shifted to Mangaluru hospital after providing initial treatments at Sirsi govt hospital.

The deceased was identified as Abu Muhammad Bhandi (60), a resident of Vanalli in Kumta, while the injured is Saleem Mulla (30). It shall be noted that Saleem Mulla is the son-in-law of deceased Abu Muhammad.

It was studied that the accident happened when the bike was on the way towards Sirsi from Kumta for periodic servicing of the bike. The incident was such a horrific that Abu Muhammad came underneath the wheels of the truck, which resulted to succumb to his injuries on the spot. The seriously injured Saleem was taken to Mangaluru hospital for advanced treatment after giving initial treatments at Sirsi govt hospital.

About Abu Muhammad, it is said that he was a gulf employee since many years and had settled to his hometown Kumta a year ago. He is survived by a wife and a daughter.

A case has been registered in Sirsi police station.
