Kumta: In a disgusting incident, a man allegedly committed suicide by sleeping on the railway track, as a result, a speeding train ran over his neck and was killed. The incident happened on 18th January, Thursday here at Hegde in Kumta taluk.

The body after the incident was noticed in such a horrific condition that a portion of the neck and a leg were separated and was seen fallen away from the tracks, while rest of the body was fallen between the tracks.

The victim has been identified as Durgappa Thimmappa Patgar, a resident of Machgon village in the taluk.

Sources informed that the victim used to be intoxicated always by consuming alcoholic products. It is suspected that over-consumption of alcohol might be the reason for the incident.

A case has been registered in Kumta police station and further investigations are on.
