Karwar: In a man-animal conflict, a 70-year-old man killed after he was attacked by a bear at Shingaragaon village of Joida taluk in Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday. When Yashwanth Mahadev Desai of Shingaragaon was heading to his paddy filed, he saw a bear with cubs. The animal attacked Yashwanth, who sustained injuries on his head, neck and eye. He also lost his left hand. As the screamed for help, his younger brother Satroba Desai rushed to the spot and the bear ran away. He took Yashwanth to Dandeli hospital with the help villagers. After giving firs-aid, the doctors referred him to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi. Yashwanth, who was in coma, breathed his last on Wednesday evening.
