Bhatkal: Mani Naveed Hussain (52), hailing from Murdeshwar in Bhatkal taluk, died in a road accident in Mysuru. The incident occurred on Thursday night around 10:15 pm.
According to sources, Naveed, the son of Mr. Mani Qadir Basha, had left his home on Thursday night on his scooter for some urgent errands. He slowed down his scooter upon approaching a road hump near Ek Minar Masjid in Shanti Nagar, when a mini lorry from behind collided with his scooter. The impact caused him to fall onto the road along with the scooter, and the lorry dragged them for a considerable distance.
He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival. His body is currently at the mortuary of KR Hospital, Mysuru. After the post-mortem, the body will be released to his family.
It has been reported that Naveed had previously worked in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and had moved to Mysore around three months ago to start his own business. He is survived by his father, mother, wife, and two daughters, who are all based in Mysore.
Eyewitnesses claim that the lorry driver was under the influence of alcohol, which led to the accident. There have also been complaints about the poor lighting on the Shanti Nagar road and the absence of reflectors on the road hump, contributing to frequent accidents at this location.
A case has been registered at the Siddhartha Police Station in Mysuru.
Upon hearing of Mr. Naveed Mani's demise, officials from the Murdeshwar Jamaat, including the president of the Majlise Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal, Inayatullah Shabandri, and the General Secretary, Abdul Raqib MJ Nadvi, along with other officials, expressed their deep sorrow and extended their condolences to the bereaved family.
The family has announced that Naveed's last rites will be performed at the Mysore graveyard on Saturday.
