Udupi: Rowdy Sheeter hacked to death, three police teams formed to investigate the murder

Udupi: A man was hacked to death at Padubidri here by a gang late night on 28th February, Wednesday and in connection to this, three police teams have been formed to investigate the murder.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen D'Souza (42yrs) s/o late Maurice D’souza, a resident of Kanjarukatte.

According to sources, Naveen was brutally hacked to death by a group of four unidentified persons near a bar in Padubidri. The attackers arrived in a Swift car and escaped right after the attack.

Since, Naveen was a rowdy sheeter and had several cases including murder attempts registered against him, some old rivalry is suspected as the cause of the gruesome murder.

Three Teams formed:      

Three teams have been formed in order to investigate the murder. One of the teams comprises of district crime intelligence bureau, the other one is headed by Kaup circle inspector, while the third one is of Padubidri police.

As per the investigations conducted, the plate number of the assailant’s car could not be detected via the CCTV footage of the bar. However, the camera had recorded how three people had got down from the car and attacked Naveen with sharp weapons, and fled, leaving Naveen in a pool of blood.

The police suspect that a gang of four members was involved in committing Naveen’s murder. The police are of the opinion that those who knew Naveen well were behind this murder.

A case stands registered at Padubidri police station.
