Mangaluru: Sasikant Senthil assumed office as the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, here on Thursday.

He succeeded Dr KG Jagadeesha, who was transferred as the director of the Department of Mines and Geology, Bengaluru.

Senthil, a 38-year-old, is a 2009 IAS batch pass out and hails from Tamil Nadu.

He holds a BE(Electronics) which he passed in first divisionfrom the Regional Engineering College of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli.

Senthil served as Assistant Commissioner, Ballari between 2009 and 2012 and held the post of Chief Executive Officer of Shivamogga Zilla Panchayat for two terms. He was also the DeputyCommissioner of Chitradurga and Raichur districts.

He was the Director, Mines and Geology Department sinceNovember2016.
