Mangaluru: The gold medal at the Khelo India University Games held in Guwahati, Assam, was secured by the Kabaddi team from Mangalore University, marking their triumphant return to the top spot after 33 years. 

Among the eight competing teams, MU clinched the runner-up spot during the league stage before advancing to the semi-finals, where they emerged victorious against Chaudhary Bansi Lal University. 

In the championship match, MU dominated Kota University with a final score of 36-22. Notably, five students from Alva’s College, benefiting from the college's sports adoption scheme, contributed to the winning team's success.
