Mangaluru: A Bajrang Dal activist has been arrested by the Mumbai police in the city on charges of kidnapping a girl who had allegedly eloped with a man from another community.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sunil Pumpwell who is an auto rickshaw driver.

According to Mangalore police, Sunil was picked by Mumbai police in Mangalore who had brought the girl and her parents from Mumbai to Mangalore in a four wheeler.

Girl husband Muhammed Iqbal Chaudhary filed a habeas corpus petition  in the Mumbai High court saying that his wife had been abducted from Mumbai. Based on the complaint, Mumbai police had arrived in Mangalore and arrested Sunil Pumpwell.
