Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Police have taken action against traffic rule violators by recommending the suspension of 222 driver's licenses to the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
According to Mangaluru Commissioner of Police, Kuldeep Kumar R Jain, the highest number of suspensions (113) is related to cases of rash and negligent driving. Other violations leading to recommended suspensions include one case of drunken driving, 16 cases of goods vehicles carrying passengers, four cases of mobile phone use while driving, five cases of signal jumping, four cases of overloading passengers in commercial vehicles, three cases of triple riding, 59 cases of riding without helmets, and 17 cases of driving without seat belts.
Authorities stress the importance of creating public awareness regarding road safety and adherence to traffic rules to curb such violations.
