Mangaluru: A protest was staged by the CPI (M) and other secular organisations on 16h January, Tuesday condemning the back to back murders in the district and urging the police to take strict measures to stop anti-social organisations from instigating communal violence.
Addressing the protesters, the state president of DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India) Muneer Katipalla, said, the recent murders of Deepak Rao and Mohammed Basheer have incited communal violence in the Dakshina Kannada district and due to this, innocent people had to lose their lives.
He further added, “Although most of the accused in these two cases have been nabbed by the police, some of them are still roaming freely and strict measures should be taken by the police to nab and punish them."
“Fear has been induced in the minds of the people of DK district because of these gruesome crimes and the police department must work on creating confidence in them by arresting and punishing the miscreants who were involved in these crimes and provide justice to the victim’s families”, said CPI(M) leader K Yadav Shetty addressing at the occasion.
