Mangaluru: Three persons were reportedly arrested Friday by the Mulki police for tearing off the banners which were put for promoting various programmes at Kukkikatte - Kollur area.

The arrested accused have been identified as Pradeep, Pratap and Mohan, all residents of Kavathur-Elanthur area in the city.

According to the sources, a complaint was filed at the police station by an eye-witness who had seen the trio tear off banners and get away on a bike. Based on the complaint, the police arrested the culprits.

The police believe that these activities are performed in order to disturb the social peace and harmony. The accused have been in court and remanded to judicial custody subsequently.
