Mangaluru: The Spice Jet flight from MIA to Dubai was delayed for about five hours on 17th January, Wednesday as it was detected during medical examination that the pilot was drunk.
The flight consisted of 180 passengers and was supposed to depart at midnight. However, the pilot of the flight who was a 35-year-old Turkish woman was found to be heavily intoxicated during the medical examination. The departure was cancelled immediately by the airport staff and steps were taken against the drunk female pilot.
Sources state that she will not be allowed to operate any flights till investigation is conducted into the incident and a final decision is taken.
The flight finally took off at 6 in the morning as an alternative pilot was arranged after a five hours delay.
