Mangaluru: A 23-year-old woman named Fathima Rukiya allegedly took the life of her four-and-a-half-month-old baby, Abdul Hood, by drowning him in a plastic tub filled with water. Subsequently, she ended her own life by hanging from the windows' grills at their residence in Gujjarakere on Saturday.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police, Anupam Agrawal, provided details about the incident, stating that Rukiya, the daughter of Khatijathul Kubra, had been married to Muhammed Unais for 18 months. She had given birth to a baby boy on July 7, 2023, and was undergoing treatment for depression.

A case has been registered.
