Mangaluru: The Bantwal Rural police have registered a case against the driver of a tipper lorry and four people travelling in a car for allegedly abusing police personnel, who were on duty, at Farangipet checkpost.

According to the police, Police Constable Shekar Chowgala and Home Guard Venugopal were on duty at the checkpost and were checking the vehicles by placing barricades.

The driver of the tipper lorry, which was speeding, failed to stop the vehicle at the checkpost and tried to run over the police personnel. The driver, yet to be identified, also damaged the barricades. Later, four unidentified people, travelling in the car that followed the tipper lorry, abused the police personnel for attempting to stop the lorry.
