Meritorious students and top lecturers honored at Anjuman college for women annual awards ceremony

Bhatkal: The Annual Day celebration of Anjuman Degree College for Women, Bhatkal, affiliated with Akka Mahadevi Women’s University, Vijayapura, was held on Sunday. During the event, exceptional students who demonstrated outstanding dedication to their studies were honored by Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, Bhatkal.

Nimra, daughter of Nadeem Ahmed Shabandari, achieved the first rank in the University for the B.Com stream and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, along with certificates and mementos. Three other distinguished students were recognized: Saman, daughter of Ameer Basha, who secured the seventh rank, and Fathima Sabha, daughter of Mohiddin Damda, who attained the tenth rank, each receiving a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. In the BA stream, Nusaina, daughter of Altaf Hussain Kobatte, earned the eighth rank and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, along with certificates and mementos.

The first rank holder, Nimra, was further honored by the Principal with an additional cash prize of Rs. 5,000 for her remarkable achievement.

Class toppers were also acknowledged for their commitment to excellence. Students who achieved a perfect score of 100 in any subject were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2,000 each. A total of 66 students received this honor.

Lecturers whose subjects had students securing 100% marks were recognized with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, a certificate, and a memento for their exceptional educational services. Lecturers whose subjects had students securing 95% marks and above were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3,000, along with a certificate and a memento.

Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada, Ms. Lakshmi Priya K., attended the celebration as the chief guest. In her first visit to Bhatkal since becoming DC, she praised the efforts to advance women's education under the Anjuman’s auspices. She congratulated the management for recognizing the achievements of both students and teachers and emphasized the profound impact of women's education on future generations. She highlighted that financial independence, achieved through education, is vital for every woman, enabling informed decision-making and goal attainment.

The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by college student Ayedah, followed by an English translation by Nabiha. A Hamd was performed by Ameena Raifa, and a group singing performance titled "Tarana-e-Anjuman," featuring Hafsa and her group, added cultural richness to the event.

Lecturer Rukhsar Anjum welcomed the attendees warmly, followed by an introduction by Lecturer Aysha Samreen. Mrs. Shahida Ekkeri presented the Annual Report of the College, and Tabassum Shaikh delivered the vote of thanks.

The stage program was compered by Aaina Safwa and Haniya Kauser, while the cultural program was led by Rahat and Suwad.

Seema Kasimiji, Chairperson of the Anjuman ladies Advisory Committee, presided over the function. Anjuman Degree College Principal Rayisa Shaikh, Principal of Anjuman Pre-University College for Women Dr. Farzana Mohtisham, and other notable guests were also present.

Earlier, Anjuman President Yunus Kazia, General Secretary Ishaque Shabandari, and many other executives welcomed DC Lakshmi Priya to Bhatkal with a bouquet of flowers.
