Met forecasts more rains for next two days

Karwar: The monsoon Rains which has picked up in the coastal regions of the State is expected to continue for the next two days. The meteorological department officials have informed that heavy rains, accompanied by gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour were expected to hit the district on Saturday and Sunday.

The district has been receiving good rainfall since Thursday evening.

The Friday also witnessed major parts of the district receiving rainfall all through the day.

While Bhatkal taluk received 75.4 mm of rainfall, Ankola received 51 mm of rainfall, Sirsi 20 mm of rainfall on Friday.

In Karwar City, it rained at regular intervals keeping the temperatures cool and pleasant.

The continuous rains also resulted in brisk sales of raincoats and umbrellas.

Friday rains affected students the most as early morning showers made it difficult for them to reach the schools and colleges. Office Goers also has a testing time reaching office without getting wet in the inclement weather.

Many low-lying areas were inundated due to heavy rains leading to clogging of drains.
