Karwar: Karwar-Ankola MLA Roopali Naik ordered stopping of the works of Ankola high-tech bus terminal accusing poor quality. The previous government released `3.85crore for the reconstruction of Ankola bus terminal.
Naik visited Ankola bus terminal on Tuesday evening to review the progress of the work but she found the quality not up to the mark. She sought the information from depot manager about the construction, after reviewing she found poor quality and unscientific work.
Then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah laid stone for the bus terminal in Karwar recently. The tender was awarded to Karwar-based construction Company and the work started about three months ago. MLA Naik said quality work has not initiated here, therefore she advised to stop the work. After discussing it with contractor, she will take a decision, she added.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, Kumta MLA Dinakar Shetty visited Kumta bus terminal and took officials to task for not keeping it clean.
The residents of Kumta accused TMC of not working properly and even Kumta depot officials are also not bothered of cleanliness. Kumta is one of busiest bus terminals in the state as it connects all three coastal districts with north and central Karnataka. Commuters and buses come here from various parts of the state round-the-clock.
Shetty, who visited the terminal with other elected representatives, discussed the cleanliness issue with depot officials. They said they have to call a tender to keep it clean and it will take time. Shetty said he will appoint private people for the job until depot officials find permanent solution to the problem.
