Kumta: The sitting MLA of Kumta-Honnavar constituency, Sharada Mohan Shetty as a Congress candidate for the May 12 Karnataka Assembly polls, on Monday, April 23 filed her nomination papers from Kumta Assembly segment.

Earlier to it, Sharada sought blessings from Mahasati temple in Kumta and moved to file papers with the huge number of supporters along with party leaders in the rally. The rally marked from Mahasati temple to Assistant commissioner officer via Bastipete in the town.

On the other hand, an hour before Congress rally was taken out, the JD(S) candidate for the same constituency Pradeep Nayak too performed Pooja in Mahasati temple and thereby with his supporters in thousands went on to file nomination papers. He was also accompanied by the party leaders.
