Karwar: Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of the rarest politicians in the history of India and he should be given a second chance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for the welfare of the country.
After felicitating the newly-elected four BJP MLAs from Uttara Kannada district at Havyaka auditorium in Kumta on Saturday, Hegde said all the countries in the world have been supporting and respecting India now and the credit goes to Modi and his development agenda.
He said there was a time when no one would dare to file nomination against the Congress candidates in any elections. But now the Congress has reached the lowest level that it had to form a government with the help of a small party, which won 38 seats in the recently held assembly elections. “The people who don’t know about the country and its strength are heading the Congress.
Therefore, the people of the country are not supporting the party,” he said. He said laying the foundation stones and roaming in cars is the politics that has been followed by the Congress.
Advising the newly elected BJP MLAs, he said the elected representatives should mingle with the people and concentrate on development works. He said he will take the responsibility of losing Haliyal and Yellapur constituencies in the recently held assembly elections.
He said in the next assembly elections, the BJP candidates will win these seats. Newly-elected BJP MLAs Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Dinakar Shetty, Sunil Naik and Roopali Naik were felicitated by Hegde. District BJP president K G Naik was present.
