Bhatkal: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister Veerappa Moily criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him uninformed and accusing him of lying due to fear of defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking at an election campaign event in Bhatkal to support the Congress party, Moily claimed that Prime Minister Modi lacks understanding of key issues such as inflation, unemployment, and black money. "He is a Prime Minister who doesn’t even know how to govern," Moily said.

At the campaign event held in the auditorium hall of a temple in Shirali, Shardahole, Moily criticized the economic policies under Modi's tenure. "In the ten years of Modi's rule, not only has poverty increased, but India has also fallen behind its neighbors Pakistan and Sri Lanka," he stated. Moily pointed out Modi's unfulfilled promise to bring back black money, highlighting the lack of reconstitution of a crucial committee on unemployment established during the Congress regime.

"Modi's job is to apply makeup three times a day and make false promises to the public," Moily remarked, questioning Modi's promise of developing India by 2047 and criticizing the public's belief in Modi’s "false propaganda."

Uttara Kannada district in-charge minister Mankal Vaidya also spoke at the event, accusing the BJP of relying on lies for electoral victories. He noted the rising costs of cooking gas and fuel, and criticized BJP leaders like Smriti Irani and Yeddyurappa for their silence on these issues now, despite their past protests during the Congress government. "Hundreds are dying due to chaos on the National Highway, yet the BJP is more concerned with politics and spreading hatred," Vaidya said.

He also addressed the neglect of the CRZ issue by state parliamentarians, which has slowed tourism and forced locals to seek employment in neighboring states. Vaidya urged the public to end BJP's deception in this election.

Former Karnataka Minister RV Deshpande criticized Modi for ignoring the issues of the Uttara Kannada district during his visits and contrasted this with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's fulfillment of election promises. He encouraged the public to vote for Congress candidate Anjali Nimbalkar.

The event was attended by former Zilla Panchayat President Jayashree Moger, Rama Moger, Chandrashekhar Gowda, Vinita Naik, Albert D'Costa, and other local leaders. Bhatkal Block Congress President Venkatesh Naik welcomed the attendees, while Vishnu Devadega delivered the vote of thanks. Suresh Naik moderated the program, and Durgadas Moger presented a prayer poem.
