Kasargod: In a tragic accident which occurred on the National highway here on Sunday a mother-daughter duo lost their lives after a lorry toppled over the rickshaw in which they were travelling.

The deceased have been identified as Shobha (32), a resident of Chattanchal here and her daughter Vismaya (13)

Shobha’s husband Rajan (37) and the auto rickshaw driver Abdul Qadir (48) have also sustained serious injuries and are being treated at a hospital along with the lorry driver and cleaner.

According to sources, Rajan and family were on their way to attend a ritual at their eldest daughter’s house when a lorry which was transporting rubber sheets with another lorry and toppled over the auto rickshaw after losing control.

Shobha and her daughter died on the spot due to the heavy impact while the auto rickshaw was completely smashed. However, the Vidyanagar police and fire personnel got both the bodies shifted to the hospital with local youths support

The traffic on highway was affected for a while and a case was registered.
