Karwar: A 46-year-old man died after a speeding tanker hit his bike in Sadashivgadh under Karwar rural police station limit on Monday night. Manoj Thamse, who was employed as a driver of city municipal vehicle in Karwar, was returning to his house after dropping his wife at Majali in Karwar.

Sources told that a speeding tanker hit the bike and fled the spot heading towards Dandeli route.

After receiving information from locals about the accident, a police team reached the spot and took the victim to Karwar hospital for post mortem.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been filed against unidentified person and have started looking for the absconding vehicle.
