Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan issued orders banning entry of people on beaches in Uttara Kananda district on December 31 from 8:00 pm. 

The order will be in force on the beaches and parks in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal taluks. 

At present, night curfew is in force in the district from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am as per the order of the State government. Only on December 31, curfew will be imposed from 8:00 pm on the beaches. 

There is a possibility of a large number of tourists visiting the district on December 31 for celebrating the new year.

Hence, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, this measure has been initiated. Police security will be intensified.
