Mundgod: The Mundgod police solved a murder case with the arrest of a law student.

The police said that they have arrested Muneshwar Vadar (26) of Andalagi village in Shiggoan taluk of Haveri district, who allegedly killed 20-year-old Sandeep Vadar at Karaginakoppa village in Mundgod taluk recently.

Muneshwar is an LLB student at a law college in Gadag and was staying in a BCM Hostel in Gadag city. He allegedly had an illegal relationship wit a 40-year-old widow, who has two children, in Mundgod town for the last two years, He used to stay in her house also.

Sandeep Vadar of Karaginakoppa in Mundgod taluk, who is also a close relative of Muneshwar, came to know about the latter’s illegal relationship and informed his parents. When the parents questioned Muneshwar about his relationship with the woman, he manged to convince his parents that he has no relationship with anyone and is concentrating on studies.

Meanwhile, Muneshwar had taken Rs 18,000 from Sandeep saying that he has contact in Bengaluru and he will get a job from him. Later Sandeep came to know that Muneshwar had cheated him and demanded the money back. When Muneshwar did not give the money back, Sandeep repeatedly informed Muneshwar’s parents about the latter’s illegal relationships.

Enraged Muneshwar, planned to kill Sandeep and bought a SIM card in the name of Sandeep about three months ago. He used to call Sandeep from that mobile number. On September 22, Muneshwar called Sandeep asking him to meet him. He served him beer mixed with poison and biryani near Karaginakoppa, Later, he dumped him in a drainage near the village.

During the investigation, the police collected the call details of deceased Sandeep and they came to know that he was getting many calls from a single mobile number. When the police checked that number, they got the IMEI number of Muneshwar and arrested him.
