Kumta: The seasonal mushrooms had made their way into Kumta market on Saturday, where it was seen many customers purchasing it near Gibb circle in the town.
The mushrooms are grown in the forest areas of Badal, Santegulli, Santgal, Kadneer in the taluk during monsoons give much demand. As many people like to eat it in monsoons, the people from villages bring it to the town and sell it at a very good price. Mushrooms are known for its costly price and are also good for the health.
Customers wish to purchase a set of 30-35 mushrooms even at a cost range between 150 to 200 rupees. The surprising thing which was noticed was that the mushrooms which brought to the market grabbed the interest of the locals and got sold within an hour. Though the people rushed in huge number at once to purchase it, the prices too were seen gradually increasing.
"The demand is high for the mushrooms grown in the forest region. But, this year, as the number of mushrooms was less, the sale was seen excellent", said a mushroom seller Krishna Mesta.
