Udupi: 'Naveen Murder Case' cracked, five nabbed by police

Udupi: Five accused were nabbed by the Udupi police team on 8th March, Thursday in connection to the murder of rowdy-sheeter Naveen D'Souza near Padubidri recently.

The arrested accused have been identified as Kishan Hegde (32yrs), Ramesh Poojary (43yrs), Mahesh Ganiga (31yrs), Mohanchandra (23yrs) and Nagaraj Poojary (18yrs).

According to sources, the police team led by ASI Ravi of DCIB traced the accused to Mumbai and arrested rest of the accused near Pearl Line Beach Resort on Thursday while Mahesh was nabbed a day earlier at Bappanadu here.

The police have confiscated four machetes and Maruthi swift used by the accused to commit the crime along with other items.

Speaking at a pressmeet on 9th March, Friday the Superintendent of police Laxman Nimbargi said, “The financial dispute between Kishan and Naveen was the cause for the murder. The other accused were lured in the conspiracy by Kishan after he offered them money in return for their help in murdering Naveen.”

"The accused have confessed to the crime and hence there is nothing more to investigate," the SP added. He further praised the police team for solving the murder case within 9 days.

Kishan, Ramesh and Mahesh are rowdy sheeters and have several casesagainst them at various police stations.

A rowdy sheeter, Naveen D’souza (42yrs), was brutally hacked to death outside a bar in PAdubidri by a gang o four unidentified persons who arrived in a Swift car on 28th February, Wednesday.
