Kumta: Commerce Lecturers Association District President S G Bhat has underscored the need to adopt the National Council Of Educational Research & Training (NCERT) model to teach commerce students since there was a heavy demand for the subject.

Observing that there were no teachers to teach commerce subject at the high school level, since it was not part of the BEd curricula, he said, this was one of the lacunae of the new education policy.

Inaugurating the seven-day training for commerce and business management lecturers from Belagavi division, which began at Hanumanth Benne Nellikeri Government PU College, in Kumta, on Monday, PU Education Department Deputy Director K T Bhat exhorted the lecturers to sharpen their skills and knowledge so that they can, in turn, impart the knowledge to their students.
