Sirsi: BJP will face a humiliating defeat in the State Assembly and this will be an indication of the downfall of the BJP in the country, predicted AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad.

Briefing reporters, in Sirsi, on Saturday, he said Prime Minister Modi is under the illusion that his party will humble Congress. However, his magic wand will not work in the State, he chided. The BJP is involved in hi-tech campaigning and their leaders are using 31 choppers to hold campaigns. However, the Congress is using only two choppers. These choppers of BJP are being fuelled by Nirav Modi and hence, BJP has no morality to speak against Congress, he said.

Cases have been filed against Amit Shah in the past and he speaks about law and order situation in Karnataka. The Gujarat model of development will not work out in Karnataka and the people here are more sensible in electing their representatives, he said.

On Hindutva, Hariprasad said that he too is a Hindu but there is no relationship between Hindu religion and Hindutva. Hindutva is just a political slogan being propagated by the BJP, he added.

The Congress has not, and will not, tie up with any other party to form the government. The party is confident of retaining its power. But, the BJP may tie-up with JD(S) or another party, said Hariprasad.

Later speaking at party workers meet, Hariprasad said, there is no confusion among party workers in allotment of a ticket. Nivedit Alva is a youngster and has more opportunities in future to climb up the political ladder. He would be given suitable position in the party after coming to power, he added.

He told the workers to approach the people highlighting the pro-people schemes implemented by the Congress and walk an extra mile to retain power in the State.
