Karwar: There was no clarity yet on All-India Congress Committee President Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Uttara Kannada district during his third leg of Karnataka tour from March 21, said Uttara Kannada district In-charge Minister R V Deshpande.
Chairing a Congress Party workers meeting, in Karwar on Sunday, he said Rahul Gandhi was expected to tour Coastal Karnataka from March 21. Efforts are being made to bring Gandhi to the district.
He said Congress is a strong force in Uttara Kannada district and will win all six seats.
He also asked party workers to make sure that Congress candidates, irrespective of who they were, win in the ensuring elections.
He further asked party workers not to stoop to the level of BJP leaders who use provocative language to flare up communal tension in the district.
Deshpande called upon party workers to strengthen the party base in the district. MLAs, instead of their Bengaluru tours, should stay back in their constituency and work. The party has to be strengthened at booth level.
